Hailing from Margate, New Jersey, Sandy Miller and her yorkshire terrier, Moe, frequently spend their weekends in Philadelphia. While Sandy loves the shore, she’s frustrated about the ghost town that Margate becomes during the off-season. She explains the emptiness of her street: “My lights are the only ones on … all of my neighbors have either gone South for warmer weather during the winter or use their Margate house as a summer home.” Sandy’s son has moved to Philadelphia, a move that has encouraged her to buy property here to spend her winters closer to him and in a more vibrant neighborhood. She is also considering retirement from her job in the Margate City Hall where from her office window she can see the “phanny” of Margate’s beloved giant elephant, Lucy.
